A few words about 17 years of living. Who were you? What did you like? What were your dreams, if any, in the harsh reality of living in a refugee camp.

Tuesday. February 22, 5 am. Cold. Winter. Special forces in a Mercedes with a Palestinian license plate, enter the camp. They drive to the western neighborhood near the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque, and surround a house of a person of interest. Snipers are ready all around, on rooftops or by windows of private houses they invaded.

80 meters to the west of the house, in front of the mosque, a group of six boys is gathering. Stones will likely be thrown. At 5:30 am, Mahmoud separates from the group, and heads to another location, 100 meters to the back of the house. A sniper fires a single shot. In the neck. The IDF spokesman will later say that Mahmoud tried to shoot at the soldiers. Witnesses and investigators disagree. Mahmoud fell, critically injured. He was evacuated to the hospital in nearby Tubas, and pronounced dead at 10:30 am.

In the same raid, a 13-years-old boy was bitten by one of the army dogs, and his father was arrested. In the statistics of the dead, Mahmoud is the 11th minor fatality, since the beginning of the year.
