Balata Refugee Camp, 0.25 square kilometers, 30,000 inhabitants, adjacent to Nablus from the east, and bordering the complex known as "Joseph's Tomb". On average, hundreds of settlers visit the compound every month, usually around midnight, accompanied by a large military force, and bulldozers.

The army does not announce its entry. The Palestinians become aware of the preparations because they follow the settlers' conduct. Usually this invasion is met with Palestinian resistance, and it almost always ends with injuries, and even death. Seven Palestinians have been killed in the past year during incursions into the compound. Montaser is one of them.

February 8th, 2:00 am. The camp is in flames. Severe clashes during the invasion of the Joseph's Tomb compound. The Palestinians prepared rocks barriers ahead of time, and set tires on fire, to prevent the buses from coming in. The military bulldozers piled dirt up, and blocked Palestinian vehicles in the city and in the camp. Heavy exchange of fire and teargas.

Montaser joined the conflicts. A sniper shot him from 200 m' away. The bullet entered behind the ear and exited through the mouth. There were no ambulances. They were blocked by the army. Friends managed to transfer him by a difficult path, in a private vehicle, to an ambulance. He arrives at the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest.

At the tomb compund (no one knows who is really buried there) the settlers continue singing and dancing. The soldiers continue to shoot.

Montaser underwent CPR and the pulse returned. Anesthetized and ventilated, he laid in bed for two weeks, not alive but not yet dead. On February 20, at 6:45 am, he was pronounced dead. 16 years old.
