May 29, 2022 marked Jerusalem Day. Some say Jerusalem Unification Day, but those who know the city closely know that it is not united and there is a large gap in rights between residents of the west and east of the city.

On this day, the flags march is held every year, with Jewish settlers and residents marching inside the Old City with Israeli flags. Palestinian residents of the area are forced to stay at home and close their stores. There was a lot of violence in the parade this year. Security forces were everywhere. The marchers sang racist chants and incitement, sprayed pepper spray and even beat those left in the area. Stores that remained open were demolished. After the parade ended, groups of rioting boys arrived in Palestinian neighborhoods in the east part of the city, harming residents and property.

About 70 Palestinians were arrested during the events and not a single Jew.

At the end of the day, young Jews violently attacked an Arab-Israeli journalist in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, two of them were arrested.

An event with so much violence, so much security presence and so little law enforcement.

The Israeli government's policy allows increasing violence in the management of law-breaking settlers.
