The West Bank - Summary of olive harvest season 2023 (September-November)

This was one of the harshest and least fruitful harvests ever:

‣ Over 96,000 dunams of olive groves were not harvested;

‣ Coordination with the Israeli army ahead of time (seam zone, 150 meters from Separation Wall, proximity to colonies) were annulled and no access was enabled;

‣ Damage estimate - around 10 million dollars. Mostly in the districts of Tulkarm, Qalqilya and Nablus;

‣ 113 colonist attacks on harvesters, vandalized trees, thefts of olives harvested, theft of harvest equipment;

‣ 20 cases ended with casualties;

‣ In 38 cases, colonist attacks were accompanied and even aided by soldiers;

‣ On October 28th, a father of 4 children was shot by a colonist during an olive harvest at As-Sawiya village, south of Nablus;

‣ Over 2,000 trees were vandalized, especially around Ramallah and Nablus;

‣ Palestinians in 150 communities who own olive groves between the ‘Green Line’ and the Separation Wall/Fence are dependent on 69 gates in the wall/fence in order to reach their groves. Since October 7th, the gates have been locked, except for November 24-30, days of the ceasefire;

‣ Access of Palestinians to olive groves in 110 communities near 56 colonies was denied because the area was declared ‘closed military zone’.

‣ 25% of them (911) due to house demolitions during military operations. Mostly in refugee camps;

‣ 5% of them (200) in Masafer Yatta and H2 Hebron area due to movement restrictions and frequent raids (especially after October 7th);

3. If fighting accelerates (Rafah invaded) - another 74,290 Palestinians will die. In case of epidemic, the number will rise to 85,750.

It should be noted that these estimates are cautious and relate only to persons killed, not wounded;
