The West Bank - October 7, 2023 - March 3, 2024

Palestinians killed

‣ 410 killed since October 7th, 103 of them minors;

‣ Among the minors, 48 were schoolchildren;

‣ Since the beginning of the year (January-February), 96 persons killed, 26 of them residing in refugee camps;

‣ Another 11 persons died since October 7th in Israeli prisons, most of them of medical negligence or abuse, according to reports.


Israelis killed

‣ Since October 7th, 15 Israelis have been killed in the West Bank, 4 of them during their army service.


Wounded

‣ Since October 7th, 4,611 Palestinians have been wounded, 709 of them minors;

‣ Of the minors, 305 are schoolchildren.


Arrests, detentions, prisoners

‣ Since October 7th, 7,350 Palestinians have been arrested, at least 460 of them minors;

‣ Among the minors, 97 are schoolchildren;

‣ Among the arrestees, 73 are school teachers;

‣ 56 journalists have been arrested: 37 remain in custody, 21 of them transferred into administrative detention;

‣ Since October 7th, Israel has issued 3,800 administrative detention orders (including renewals);

‣ 9,000 persons are held as prisoners and detainees, 3,500 of them in administrative detention;

‣ Testimonies of abusing detainees and harsh detention conditions have been accumulating. The “leading” detention facility is at Gush Etzyon;

‣ Over-crowded cells, no showers, no changes of clothes, lack of food, medical negligence, harassment, humiliation, forcing detainees to do things as they are stripped and humiliated;

‣ Testimonies of increased violence has been accumulating regarding the arrest itself. Detainees are often left at the colony for hours (where they are treated with violence), and then they are “taken in” to custody.


Displacement and demolitions

‣ Since October 7th, 592 Palestinians, 282 of them minors, have been displaced due to demolitions in Area C and in East Jerusalem. The claim - lack of construction permits. Still, a few do receive permits.

‣ The data do not include demolition by military operation (updated in the next report).


Colonist attacks

‣ 603 attacks by colonists have been documented. 121 of them ended in casualties.

 

The Gaza Strip - October 7, 2023 - March 3, 2024


Al Rashid, the flour massacre


Palestinians killed

‣ 30,228 persons killed;

‣ According to the American Secretary of Defense spokesperson, 25,000 women and children killed;

‣ According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health (as of February 27th) - 13,230 minors killed;

‣ 10 of them infants, died of malnutrition;

‣ 5,379 of them schoolchildren;

‣ 17,000 minors are orphaned;

Among those killed:

‣ 255 teachers;

‣ 340 medical staff members;

‣ 47 members of rescue teams;

‣ 132 journalists;

‣ 7,000-7,500 missing persons, 70% of them women and children.

Israelis killed

‣ 1,220 killed on October 7th, 36 of them minors;

‣ Number of killed persons among the captives held in the Gaza Strip. 31 bodies held there are known with certainty;

‣ 240 Israeli soldiers killed since the beginning of the ground invasion.

‣ Of them, 8,888 school children. Total number of wounded minors unreported;

‣ 11,000 persons wounded in serious or critical condition needing immediate evacuation;

‣ 7 children in critical condition due to malnutrition;

‣ An average of 100-150 cases of Hepatitis A discovered daily at the Jabalia medical center;

‣ About 20,000 active cases of Hepatitis A.


Israelis

‣ About 4,500 persons wounded on October 7th;

‣ 1,432 Israeli soldiers wounded physically since the beginning of the ground invasion.


Demolitions

‣ 70,000 tons of bombs;

‣ About 400,000 residences damaged;

‣ 492 mosques, 211 totally demolished;

‣ 31 hospitals (of the 36 in-existence) have been made inoperative;

‣ 207 health centers hit, 53 of them made inoperative;

‣ 405 educational facilities made inoperative, of them 100 totally demolished;

‣ 124 ambulances hit;

‣ 200 heritage and archeology sites;

‣ 378 documented direct attacks on medical centers, where 659 patients and staff members were killed, and 843 wounded.


Malnutrition

‣ In February, the number of aid trucks to Gaza has been reduced by 30% due to postponement and coordination cancellation on the part of Israel;

‣ One of every 6 children under the age of two in the Northern Strip suffers acute malnutrition (as of February 19th);

‣ 21% of pregnant women out of an examined selection (416 individuals) suffered acute malnutrition.

 

Sunday, February 25 - The West Bank

Arrests

40 persons arrested, among them a journalist and 7 minors.

Clashes

1. Jenin - a special force unit surrounded a house in the western part of town. Confrontations broke out including fire exchange. Military auxiliary forces arrived. 2 persons were reported wounded by live fire, and 2 detainees.



2. Sebastia, north-west of Nablus - today, too, military forces raided the archeological site area. They forced merchants to close shop, imposed closure and fired teargas canisters. No wounded persons reported.

3. Qalqilya - raid. Confrontations. Report of an improvised explosive charge activated against the military force. No wounded persons reported.

4. Nablus - the eastern part of the city raided. Confrontations. Arrests.

5. Osarin, south-east of Nablus - raid and confrontations.

6. Raids and arrests at Sinjil, Ein Yabrud, Beitin, Bil’in, Nabi Salah, Deir Abu Mash’al, Kharbatha Bani Harith, Zababdeh, Bani Naim, Al-Ubeidiya.


Demolitions

1. Sarta, west of Salfit - bulldozers have begun to flatten farmland while uprooting 50 olive trees in order to pave a road to Barkan colony.


Colonists

1. Arab Al Malihat, north-west of Jericho - colonists break down a fence and steal 30 sheep.


 

Sunday, February 25 - The Gaza Strip

‣ 7 lethal attacks;

‣ 86 persons killed;

‣ 131 persons wounded;

‣ 2 Giv’ati Infantry soldiers killed in the Southern Strip, 10 wounded, 4 of them seriously;

‣ A soldier declared captive has been identified as killed on October 7th, his body held in Gaza.

1. Gaza City, Al Sabra neighborhood - 3 persons killed in a house bombed early in the morning. Al Zeitoun neighborhood - a house bombed, 15 persons killed, among them children and 50 wounded. Western part of town - drones shooting at shore road. Al Rashid Street, close to Al Nablusi Square (same place attacked later this week) - 10 persons killed among those standing in a waiting line for food supply. 15 persons killed, 15 wounded. Shuja’iyya neighborhood - one persons killed.

2. Beit Lahia - residents trying to pick plants were shot. 2 persons killed.



3. Al Shati refugee camp - 2 persons killed, 4 wounded.

Southern Strip

1. Khan Yunis - western and eastern parts of the city bombed - 23 persons killed (8 in the east, 15 in the west). Al Nasser Hospital - no food, no water, no fuel, no oxygen tanks. 13 patients dead from lack of oxygen supply. Buried in the compound yard.

2. Rafah - northern part of the city bombed. 3 persons killed including a woman and a child.

Monday February 26 - The West Bank

Killed

Majdi Awad Nabhan, 19-years-old from Jenin refugee camp. Wounded 3 days ago during a vehicle bombing. Died of his wounds today.


Arrests

‣ 30 persons arrested, and unknown number of Gazans at present in Nablus.

‣ The military court at Ofer ruled the release of an 18-year-old detainee, arrested 5 months ago, critically wounded, sedated and ventilated. He was transferred to a Ramallah hospital.


Clashes

1. Al-Bireh - night raid and confrontations. No casualties reported.

2. Nablus - city raided from several directions. Arrests of Gazans at the Nablus city stadium. Some were reported beaten up during their arrest. Later, a printing press raided. In Al Mahfiya neighborhood confrontations broke out including fire exchange and side explosive charges. 2 persons wounded by live fire, another 8 by teargas. Ambulance access denied.

3. Jalbun, east of Jenin - raid and confrontations. Suffocations.

4. Shuweika, north of Tulkarm - night raid. Confrontations and fire exchange.

5. Abu Dis, east of Jerusalem - confrontations close to Al Quds University.

6. Tell, south-west of Nablus - raid and confrontations.

7. Azzun, east of Qalqilya - raid and confrontations.

8. Deir Ghasana, north-west of Ramallah - raid and confrontations.

Monday, February 26 - The Gaza Strip

‣ 10 lethal attacks;

‣ 90 persons killed;

‣ 164 persons wounded;

‣ 5 Israeli soldiers seriously wounded.


Aid

1. Last month, since the Hague ruling on aid, there has been a decrease of aid trucks that Israel allowed into the Strip, by 30%.

2. The Red Crescent announced suspending its activity for 48 hours because it is unable to ensure its teams’ welfare.

3. An aid delegation directed to Al Amal Hospital was delayed for 7 hours. Medical teams evacuating wounded persons who were allowed out of the hospital (18 persons) were taken off, some of them stripped, and attacked. 3 persons were taken to an unknown destination (OCHA report).

1. Gaza City - today, too, snipers shot at people waiting for food on Al Rashid Street in the western part of town. 4 persons killed.

2. Al Shati refugee camp - 8 persons killed in bombing.


Central Strip

1. The Jordanian army has parachuted food and equipment at the shoreline in the Central and Southern Strip.

2. Deir Al Balah - 5 persons killed in 2 events.

3. Nuseirat and Al Bureij refugee camps - bombings. Number of persons killed unclear.


Southern Strip

1. Khan Yunis - bombings east of the city. Total of 21 persons killed.



2. Rafah - 8 persons killed in a house bombed close to the Kuwaiti Hospital. 4 persons killed in a house bombed at Al Jeneina neighborhood in the northern part of town.

Tuesday, February 27 - The West Bank

Killed

1. Ahmad Daraghma, 26-years-old from Tubas.

2. Osama Jaber Al Zult, 31-years-old from Al Far’a refugee camp.

3. Samih Biadsa, 32-years-old from Al Far’a refugee camp.

4. Nizar Mahmoud Hasasna, 34-years-old from Al-Ubeidiya.

26 persons arrested, 3 of them minors, 2 of them women.

1. Al Far’a refugee camp, south of Tubas - raid close to midnight accompanied by bulldozers. Snipers situated on houses. Lengthy confrontations, including fire exchange and explosive charges. 2 persons killed and 3 wounded by live fire. Destruction of streets and water infrastructures by bulldozers.

2. Tubas - after the raid on the nearby refugee camp, the town raided, during which a wanted man was killed, active in the Al Aqsa Brigades.

3. Beit Rima, north-west of Ramallah - night raid of houses, damaging contents.

4. Beit Furik Checkpoint, east of Nablus - confrontations. One person wounded by live bullet to the chest.

5. Mazmuria Checkpoint, east of Bethlehem - soldiers shoot and critically wound a Palestinian trying to cross the checkpoint, left him to bleed to death without medical treatment. Upon death, he was transferred to the Red Crescent. No stabbing attempt.

6. Hebron - raid on the legal unit offices of the rehabilitation committee, located in the Old City. Search of documents and photos of workers.

7. Nitzanei Oz Checkpoint, west of Tulkarm - shooting at Palestinian vehicles.


Demolitions and confiscation

1. Biddya, west of Salfit - a bulldozer confiscated during work upon claim it worked in Area C.


Colonist attacks

1. Khalet ad-Daba'a, Masafer Yatta - colonists fire at Palestinian children while the soldiers arrest 2 Palestinians.

2. Umm Al-Khair, Masafer Yatta - repeated vandalization of the memorial statue of Haj Suleiman Hathalin, cruelly run over two years ago by a police tow truck. This memorial has often been desecrated and vandalized.

Tuesday, February 27 - The Gaza Strip

‣ 11 lethal attacks;

‣ 96 persons killed; 172 persons wounded;

‣ 2 Israeli soldiers killed, 11 wounded, 6 of them seriously;

1. Kamal ‘Adwan Hospital - 2 babies died of dehydration and malnutrition.

Wednesday, February 28 - The West Bank

Arrests

40 persons arrested, 20 of them from Yatta, 3 of them minors.


Clashes

1. Jenin city and refugee camp - dawn raid with bulldozers, arrests operation and destruction of street, vehicles, shops and house entrances. Confrontations.

2. Qalqilya - city and houses raided, confrontations. Live fire and teargas. 2 persons wounded by live bullet shrapnel.

3. Qusra - raid and confrontations. A 19-year-old wounded in the chest by live fire. Later soldiers attacked him and the ambulance team treating him.



4. Al-Bireh - raid and confrontations around Jabal Al Tawil. No casualties reported.

5. Husan, west of Bethlehem - raid and confrontations. No casualties reported.

6. Qaffin, north of Tulkarm - raid and confrontations.

7. Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus - raid and confrontations. Fire exchanges.

Deir Al Ghusun, north-east of Tulkarm - shooting at a military force.


Demolitions

1. Jalbun, north-east of Jenin - farming structures demolished. Confrontations broke out. The Israeli army declared the area ‘closed military zone’ and arrested two persons.



2. Al Walaja, north-west of Bethlehem - in the third round of demolitions this week, a house and caravan standing on rubble since 2017 were demolished.

1. Asira Al Qibliya - a colonist erected a checkpoint on the road connecting the village to ‘Urif and fired at vehicles.

Wednesday, February 28 - The Gaza Strip

‣ 8 lethal attacks;

‣ 76 persons killed;

‣ 110 persons wounded;

‣ 24 hours.

‣ 2 officers of Givati Infantry brigade killed, 7 soldiers wounded at Al Zeitoun.

1. Gaza City - Al Rashid Street bombed again, people waiting for food - 3 persons killed. Another killed person at Al Bahar Street. Tel Al Hawa and Sheikh Ajlin neighborhoods - 2 houses bombed. 3 persons killed, 6 wounded. Al Rimal, Al Sabra and Al Zeitoun neighborhoods bombed. Number of fatalities unclear.

Thursday, February 29 - The West Bank

Israelis killed

1. Yitzhak Zeiger, 57-years-old from Shavei Shomron colony.

2. Uria Hartum, 16-years-old from Dolev colony.


Palestinians killed

1. Basher Nihad Hanani, 19-years-old from Beit Furik.

2. Ibrahim Mahamid, 59-years-old from Nur Shams refugee camp. Died of his wounds after being shot 5 months ago (October 19, 2023) in a raid on the camp while trying to save his 12-year-old son who was shot to death.

3. Najem A-Din Shawamra, 28-years-old from Beit Awa.

5. ‘Asef Al Rifa’i, 22-years-old from Kafr Ein.

6. Mohammad Manasra, resident of Qalandia refugee camp.

‣ The body of Doha Abu Eid was returned, after being held by Israel since January 7th.


Arrests

‣ 24 persons arrested, a minor among them;

‣ 30 administrative detainees freed from Ofer prison due to over-crowding;

‣ A 22-year-old detained on September 22 while undergoing chemotherapy, died of cancer during his detention. Several detainees who have died since October 7, 2023, has risen to 11.


Clashes

1. Beit Furik - raid and confrontations. One person wounded by bullets fired at his belly. Declared dead when arriving at hospital.

2. Beit Awa, south-west of Hebron - 3 brothers out to pick akub weeds close to the wall were shot. 2 killed, one wounded.

3. Jalazone refugee camp, north of Ramallah - especially violent arrest of a 28-year-old in front of his wife and child at night. Soldiers forced him to strip, shot each leg and arrested him.

4. Jenin - residential house surrounded at Al Jabariat neighborhood. Confrontations. A Palestinian was shot in the head, his condition serious. Evacuation delayed, later shots fired at the ambulance.

5. Bir Zeit, north of Ramallah - special force infiltrated the town and raided homes. Later aided by auxiliary force. Confrontations. A resident hit in the head by sponge bullet.

6. Dura al-Qari'a, north of Ramallah – confrontations.

7. Azzun, east of Qalqilya - night raid on houses.


Demolitions

1. Al-dyouk A-Tahta, west of Jericho - house demolished. Journalists documenting this event were attacked by soldiers and wounded.




Attacks against colonists

1. Eli, south of Nablus - A Palestinian shoots and kills 2 Israelis at a gas station. The restaurant owner comes out and kills him.

2. Hizma, north-east of Jerusalem - stones thrown at a bus.


Colonist attacks

1. Arab Al Malihat, north-west of Jericho - armed colonists raid the community and throw stones.

2. Kisan, east of Bethlehem - colonists take over 2 farming structures and threaten the owner’s life if he dares to return to his lands.

3. Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, south of Nablus - a colonist runs over and wounds a Palestinian at the entrance to the village. In addition, colonists vandalize vehicles and try to attack a home.

4. Za’atara Checkpoint, south of Nablus - stones thrown at Palestinian vehicles. A Qarawat Bani Hassan villager wounded in the head while waiting in his car to cross the checkpoint.

5. Asira Al Qibliya, south of Nablus - again colonists block the road.

6. Ein Yabrud, east of Ramallah - colonists attack Palestinian cars.


 

Thursday, February 29 - The Gaza Strip

‣ 9 attacks;

‣ 81 persons killed;

‣ 132 persons wounded;

‣ 24 hours.

(not including the victims of the ‘flour massacre’)


Hungry babies



Northern Strip

1. Gaza City - Al Rashid Street. Thousands of Gazans surrounded an aid convoy (one of 4 convoys organized by Israel). Two versions of the event:

The Israeli version - presented by an edited video, without audio, taken from a drone, and critical minutes are missing to understand it. Thousands of hungry persons crushed each other. Soldiers felt threatened and shot.

The Palestinian version - Presented by an Al Jazeera video - shots are heard distinctly, 2 tanks are seen at a 250 meters range. Doctors at hospitals and photos report that most of the victims are of bullets shot to heads and chests.

The result of both versions is identical: 112 persons killed; 760 wounded.

2. Al Zeitoun - video of bulldozer documenting runover and death of a detained person.


3. Hospitals - another 4 babies died of starvation. 10 have so far starved to death.


Central strip

1. Nuseirat and Al Bureij refugee camps - at least 25 persons killed. Many buried under the rubble after a night of bombings.

1. Khan Yunis - 5 persons killed at the center of town. 22 persons killed in additional bombings in various parts of the city.
